Nicole Hollmann born in Hamburg, Germany. After first initial photographic works and high school graduation, she became assistant of fashion photographer Charlotte March. Followed by a photography apprenticeship at Bindseil Studio for advertising photography from 1984 to 1986. In 1986 she was awarded recipient of the prize of the Central Association of Professional German Photographers. From 1986 to 1988 she returned to international fashion photography, as assistant of F.C. Gundlach at PPS.Studios. In 1989 Hollmann set out as a freelance photographer.
In 2008 stay in New York City, where she developed the concept Out of Focus. The works originated in New York City had been awarded an Honorable Mention in the 2009 International Photography Awards.
In 2011 three of her large-format New York works were shown at the Hamburger Kunsthalle as a part of the exhibition Out of focus. After Gerhard Richter.
The monograph Nicole Hollmann Out of Focus published by Kehrer Verlag was presented in October 2011 at the Frankfurt Book Fair; edited by F.C. Gundlach with texts by Hubertus Gaßner and Klaus Honnef.
In 2016 she has been appointed as member of the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Photographie (DGPh).
In November/December 2017 her work NYC 3 BCMOTS was shown at the group exhibition of Grieger International Fine Art at the NRW-Forum in Düsseldorf; among such great artists like Andreas Gursky, Thomas Ruff, Axel Hütte, Thomas Struth and Thomas Demand.
The project infinity had been awarded an Honorable Mention in the 2018 International Photography Awards.
In October 2018 Nicole Hollmann was invited by Jens Friis, the Editor of KATALOG - Journal of photography & video, to collaborate on the December issue 29.2; with a four pages portfolio of her works and thoughts illustrating the essay on experimental photography by Marc Lenot Experimental Photography - Playing against the camera.
Since April 2020 three large formats from Nicole Hollmann's work series Out of Focus: New York City are part of the F.C. Gundlach Collection.
The Roosen-Trinks Collection included four works to their collection during the years 2020, 2021 and 2022.

Nicole Hollmann wurde in Hamburg geboren. Nach ersten fotografischen Arbeiten und dem Abitur begann sie eine Assistenz bei der Modefotografin Charlotte March. Von 1984 bis 1986 folgte eine klassische Ausbildung zur Fotografin im Studio Bindseil für Werbefotografie. 1986 war sie Preisträgerin des Centralverbandes Deutscher Photographen. Von 1986 bis 1988 kehrte sie als Assistentin von F.C. Gundlach / PPS.Studios in die internationale Modefotografie zurück. In das Jahr 1989 startete sie als freiberufliche Fotografin.
2008 reiste sie nach New York City und entwickelte das Konzept Out of Focus. Die in New York entstandenen Arbeiten erhielten 2009 eine ehrenhafte Erwähnung und Nicole Hollmann wurde als Finalistin der International Photography Awards ausgezeichnet.
2011 wurden drei ihrer New York Arbeiten in der Hamburger Kunsthalle im Rahmen der Gruppenausstellung Unscharf. Nach Gerhard Richter gezeigt.
Die Monographie Nicole Hollmann Out of Focus wurde vom Kehrer Verlag publiziert und auf der Frankfurter Buchmesse im Oktober 2011 vorgestellt; herausgegeben von F.C. Gundlach mit Texten von Hubertus Gaßner und Klaus Honnef.
Seit 2016 ist sie berufenes Mitglied der Deutschen Gesellschaft für Photographie (DGPh).
Im November/Dezember 2017 wurde ihre Arbeit NYC 3 BCMOTS im Rahmen einer Gruppenausstellung von Grieger International Fine Art im NRW-Forum in Düsseldorf gezeigt; neben anderen großartigen Künstlern wie Andreas Gursky, Thomas Ruff, Axel Hütte, Thomas Struth und Thomas Demand.
Das Projekt infinity erhielt eine Honorable Mention bei den International Photography Awards 2018.
Im Oktober 2018 wurde Nicole Hollmann von Jens Friis, dem Herausgeber von KATALOG - Journal of photography & video eingeladen, an der Dezember Ausgabe 29.2 mitzuwirken. Es entstand ein vierseitiges Portfolio ihrer Arbeiten und Gedanken, dass den Essay über experimentelle Fotografie von Marc Lenot Experimental Photography - Playing against the camera veranschaulicht.
Seit April 2020 befinden sich drei Großformate von Nicole Hollmanns Werkserie Out of Focus: New York City in der Sammlung F.C. Gundlach.
Die Sammlung Roosen-Trinks hat in den Jahren 2020, 2021 und 2022 vier Arbeiten in ihre Sammlung aufgenommen.
